New#

• Canon. The people in your book and how they are connected, kept per project and shown as a graph you can lay out with one click. The AI reads what you confirmed, so it writes consistently with it.
• Chaptora finds characters in your own text. "Scan chapter" and "Scan book" collect the people it recognizes and hand each one to you as a find. Nothing enters the Canon until you confirm it, and you can correct a name or a description on the way in. Confirm or dismiss them one at a time, or several at once.
• Characters in the Editor and in the AI Sidebar. A confirmed character is highlighted wherever their name or one of their aliases appears in a chapter, with a short card on hover and a jump to their profile. In the AI Sidebar, type @ to pick a character and drop their full name into your message.
• Start a project from writing you already have. Manuscript Import takes a Word file or pasted text and shows you the detected chapters before anything is created: rename them inline, change the order, choose which heading level starts a chapter, send a section to front or back matter, or leave it out. Nothing is written until you confirm, and no AI usage is spent on it.
• Chapters where you want them. Insert a new chapter directly after the one you are working on, and reorder chapters by dragging them in the Chapter Tree. The numbering follows the new order by itself.
• Subtitles. A project can carry a subtitle. It appears on the PDF title page, in the EPUB metadata, and in your saved versions.
• Research on the open web, inside the AI Sidebar. When your own material does not answer the question, the AI can search and read pages on the web. Every page it actually opened is named under the answer, separately from your own Sources, and one click saves it to your Sources so you can cite it later.
• Inline AI is quicker. The Slash menu and Cmd+K now run on a faster model, so the text arrives noticeably sooner.
• Front and back matter save themselves. The Dedication, Epigraph and the other matter editors auto-save while you type, the way a chapter does.

Fixed#

• Deleting a project works again.
• PDF page numbers no longer count the cover sheet, and the body starts at page 1.
• The PDF copyright page uses the whole page instead of a narrow column squeezed against the bottom.
• The page numbers printed in the PDF table of contents match the pages they point at.
• Leaving a chapter no longer waits for the save to finish. The save runs in the background and survives the switch, so navigating away can no longer cost you a sentence.
• A long prompt in the AI composer scrolls instead of being cut off.
• An interrupted answer no longer leaves an empty bubble in the AI Sidebar. Whatever the AI had already written stays in the conversation.
• Picking a plan on the pricing page carries that choice into the checkout, and switching between monthly and annual billing works.

• Restore a version without risk. Restoring updates your chapters in place instead of replacing them, a chapter that exists now but not in the version goes to the trash rather than away, and the state you are about to overwrite is always saved first. Every restore can itself be undone.
• The AI writes in your voice. Paste up to roughly 2000 words of your own prose into project settings as a voice sample. Chaptora shows it to the AI as an example rather than describing your style in words, which is the difference between "write like this" and "write in a warm, direct tone".
• Generated text follows your book's language. No more English chapter names in a German book.
• Search the whole project. Cmd+F still searches the open chapter; Cmd+Shift+F searches every chapter title, every chapter body and the text-bearing front and back matter, and can replace across all of them at once. The count it reports and the number it replaces are the same number.
• Proofread, Rephrase, Expand and Shorten in one click. The AI button in the Editor toolbar runs a fixed instruction on your selection and returns the result as a red and green diff you accept or reject. The menu tells you whether your project's writing style is steering the result.
• The AI can build your bibliography. In agent mode it can add citation sources and cite them in the text. Editing or removing an entry stays your decision.
• Two steps to create a book. The Create Book wizard asks for the trim size and paper color right away, instead of leaving the format to be discovered in settings later.
• One conversation across both modes. Switching between chat and agent no longer starts over: both modes see the whole transcript, and nothing said before it is lost.
• The agent asks instead of guessing. When a run hits a decision only you can make, it stops and asks in the AI Sidebar. Your answer continues the same run, with its plan and everything it had already done still in place.
• Front and back matter you can shape. Rename the headings of matter items and add sections of your own.
• A deleted chapter goes to the trash. Deleting a chapter is recoverable, whether you deleted it or the AI Agent did.
• You can see whether your work is saved. The Editor shows the save state and reports a failure where it happened, instead of dropping you back on the Dashboard. Leaving a chapter with unsaved changes warns you first.
• Sources say when they fail. A file the AI cannot read shows the reason in the Sources sidebar and offers a retry, instead of sitting in "processing" forever.
• A guided tour on your first visit, and a tutorial video. New accounts get a short walkthrough of the Editor and the sidebars, and the docs and the empty dashboard carry a video that goes through a whole book.

Public beta launch#

Chaptora opened to its first authors in May 2026 with the parts a book needs: the Editor and the Chapter Tree with front matter, body and back matter; the AI Sidebar for asking questions and for multi-step edits that arrive as a diff you approve; Sources, the research the AI reads before it answers; citations with a generated bibliography; version history; and export to print-ready PDF in KDP trim sizes and reflowable EPUB. Everything above was built on top of that.
